Cookie Policy
Cookie Policy
Last updated: June 2026
This Cookie Policy provides comprehensive information about the use of cookies and comparable storage technologies on elgazettario.com pursuant to § 25 TDDDG, Art. 5 para. 3 ePrivacy Directive (2002/58/EC as amended), and the GDPR.
1. What Are Cookies and Storage Technologies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They may be read on subsequent visits. Beyond traditional HTTP cookies, relevant storage technologies include:
- Local Storage: A persistent browser storage area. Unlike cookies, Local Storage entries are not automatically transmitted with every HTTP request. Typical capacity: 5–10 MB per origin. Data persists until explicitly deleted.
- Session Storage: Similar to Local Storage, but cleared when the browser tab is closed.
- Browser Fingerprinting: Device identification via technical characteristics (screen resolution, installed fonts, browser plugins, etc.) — we do not use this technique.
§ 25 TDDDG (German implementation of Art. 5 para. 3 ePrivacy Directive) requires consent for storing or accessing information on users' devices, except where storage is strictly technically necessary.
2. Technologies Used on This Website
We use exactly two storage technologies on elgazettario.com:
| Name | Type | Provider | Purpose | Category | Legal Basis | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
hpm_cookie_consent |
Local Storage | First-Party (own operation) | Storing user cookie consent decision (necessary, analytics, marketing) and timestamp of decision | Technically necessary | § 25 para. 2 No. 2 TDDDG; Art. 6 para. 1 lit. c GDPR | Until manually deleted by user or browser storage cleared |
hpm_accessibility |
Local Storage | First-Party (own operation) | Storing user accessibility preferences (font size, contrast, underlined links, reduced motion, readable spacing) set via the accessibility widget | Technically necessary | § 25 para. 2 No. 2 TDDDG (feature explicitly requested by the user); Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR | Until manually deleted by user or reset via the widget |
3. Why These Technologies Are Technically Necessary
The hpm_cookie_consent entry is technically necessary (§ 25 para. 2 No. 2 TDDDG) because without it: (1) your consent decision cannot be stored and applied on subsequent page visits; (2) the consent banner would appear on every page load rather than just once; (3) our obligation to document consent under Art. 7 para. 1 GDPR cannot be fulfilled. No consent is required for technically necessary storage under § 25 para. 2 No. 2 TDDDG. Legal basis: Art. 6 para. 1 lit. c GDPR (fulfilment of the Art. 7 para. 1 GDPR documentation obligation). The hpm_accessibility entry is likewise technically necessary: without it, accessibility preferences you explicitly set via the accessibility widget could not be remembered between page visits. Legal basis: Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR (legitimate interest in providing a requested accessibility feature).
4. What We Expressly Do Not Use
Analytics and Statistics Cookies
No Google Analytics (UA or GA4), no Google Tag Manager, no Adobe Analytics, no Matomo, no Piwik PRO, no Plausible Analytics, no Fathom Analytics, no Simple Analytics, no Heap, no Mixpanel, no Amplitude, or similar cookie-based web analytics services of any kind. We do use Vercel Web Analytics, a cookie-less, anonymous tool for aggregate visitor counts — see our Privacy Policy for details.
Advertising and Marketing Cookies
No Google Ads, no DoubleClick/Google Display Network, no Facebook Pixel, no Google Remarketing, no Criteo, no The Trade Desk, no programmatic advertising of any kind.
Social Media Cookies
No embedded social media plugins, share buttons, or widgets from Facebook/Meta, Instagram, X/Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, Pinterest, Snapchat, or any other social platform that automatically transmit data.
Functional Cookies
No cookies for language settings or other personalisation beyond technically necessary baseline functionality, with one exception: the hpm_accessibility Local Storage entry described above, which stores display preferences you explicitly set via the accessibility widget (see our Accessibility Statement).
Cross-Site and Fingerprinting Technologies
No browser fingerprinting, no cross-site tracking, no supercookies, no ETag tracking, no canvas fingerprinting, no WebGL fingerprinting, or any other persistent identification mechanism beyond the single technically necessary Local Storage entry described above.
5. Managing and Deleting Local Storage
The quickest way to change your choice — including whether Vercel Web Analytics is active — is to click the cookie icon in the bottom-right corner of the page, available at any time, or Cookie Settings in the website footer. Either one reopens the consent panel, where you can accept, decline, or set individual preferences; your updated choice takes effect immediately and does not require clearing browser storage manually.

You can also clear all stored data for elgazettario.com via your browser's privacy or history settings. Note that this will also delete other stored preferences.
6. Effect of Deletion
Deleting hpm_cookie_consent removes your stored consent decision. The cookie consent banner will reappear on your next visit to elgazettario.com so you can set your preferences again.
7. Data Subject Rights
Regarding the Local Storage entry, you have GDPR rights (Art. 15–22) to the extent applicable. As this entry lives exclusively in your browser, rights can be exercised directly via the deletion procedure above. For further enquiries: support@harbingerpressmedia.com.
8. Changes to This Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy may be updated when new technologies are introduced or legal requirements change. The date of last update appears above.
9. International Applicability
This Cookie Policy is designed to meet cookie and local-storage disclosure requirements beyond the EU/EEA as well, including the CCPA/CPRA (California), the UK GDPR, the LGPD (Brazil), Argentina’s Law No. 25,326, PIPEDA (Canada), the Privacy Act 1988 (Australia), the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 (India), and the Personal Information Protection Act (South Korea). Because we use only strictly necessary local-storage items and the cookie-less Vercel Web Analytics tool described above, no additional jurisdiction-specific cookie consent obligations arise beyond what is already described in this policy.
10. Supervisory Authorities (EU/UK Residents)
Although, for the reasons explained in our Privacy Policy, we do not consider ourselves subject to the jurisdiction of EU/UK supervisory authorities on a targeting basis, if you are located in the EU, EEA, or United Kingdom and believe such an authority nonetheless has jurisdiction over a cookie- or storage-related concern, the principal supervisory authorities are:
