Global Artists Collective, a Seattle-based performing arts nonprofit, is presenting two free public events in Bellevue's BelRed Arts District this September, both headlined by the award-winning band Global Heat and supported by a project grant from Bellevue Arts & Culture, City of Bellevue.
The first event, Rhymes & Beats: Playing with Words When Rhythm Counts, takes place on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at BelRed Arts Studio, located at 1615 133rd Pl NE, Bellevue, WA 98005. Open mic sign-up begins at 7 p.m. Global Heat will lead an interactive workshop covering lyric writing, improvisation, and freestyling, tracing the roots of contemporary hip-hop and sharing songwriting techniques through live demonstrations. Attendees are invited to perform their own rhymes alongside band members. Admission is free, open to all ages, and on a first-come, first-served basis.
The second event, Get Live! An Interactive Experience, places Global Heat on the main stage of the BelRed Night Market on Saturday, September 19, 2026, beginning at 3:50 p.m. The band will perform a repertoire spanning Soul, R&B, Funk, and Jazz Hip-Hop, including songs improvised live from audience prompts — such as three random words, a feeling, or a scene. The market runs until 10 p.m. and features additional performers including Nahui Ollin Tezcatlipocatl Dance, BelArts Ballet, Coffee Dance Studio, School of Rock Bellevue, Double Dutch Divas, M¡SSMANAGED, BNH Deluxe, Daughters Of Venus, The Black Tones, and Meldrop, alongside market vendors. No registration is required.
Both events are co-produced with the BelRed Arts District Community Alliance. Global Artists Collective describes its mission as creating cross-cultural programming that increases access for underrepresented artists and brings diverse communities together through shared artistic experiences.
